You might think that choosing a pet name is an easy task. After all, there are thousands of names to choose from. But when you think about the new animal that you've brought into your home, you're thinking that perhaps choosing a suitable name isn't going to be as simple as you thought. Why? Because the name you choose is going to represent your new friend for the rest of his/her life, and isn't that worth taking some time to think over?
Pet names aren't just words, they reflect personality. A pet's new name should be something that has some meaning to you and to your pet.
Now choosing the right name for you pet should involve a bit of research. Sure it would easy enough to call your new dog "Spot", or your new cat "Whiskers", but honestly, you can probably be a little more creative than that.
Some people will put as much thought and effort into an animal's name, as they would a new child. And why not? Animals deserve to be treated with pride and dignity.
Now you might be the type of person who likes a nice solid-sounding name, like "Rocky", or "Dusty", or "Sam", but again that is reflecting your personality, and perhaps that of the animal. Perhaps your new cat is tender and gentle, yet sophisticated, and you'd rather go with a name like "Mrs. Pennington", "Catty McClawsington", or "Fluffykins". The name doesn't matter, as long as it means something to the owner.
Whatever you decide to name your pet, just remember to put some thought into it, because "Whiskers" is worth the effort. |
