When someone talks to you about barbs, they're usually talking about a witty joke, or a woman, or possibly even thinking about upgrading the security of their fencing. But if you were a fish-lover, and I don't mean the eating kind, you would know that a barb is a popular aquarium fish, as in the tropical tiger barb, a freshwater fish found throughout the Malay Peninsula, Borneo, and Sumatra.

And when someone starts chatting about tinfoil, you might be inclined to think they're discussing the freshness of foods, but really, they're talking about the tinfoil barb, another curious aquatic creature that is suitable choice for beginning aquaculturists.

I'm a big dog lover, not just big dogs, but all dogs, and I am the proud owner (adopter) of a new Australian Shepherd. It had been a year-and-a-half since my Shetland Sheepdog passed away, and with a new family member arriving (a son), a new home, and a family cat, the time was finally right to introduce a new canine member into the fold.

Now as a dog owner, dog health is very important to me, and I take care that I'm doing all the right things to keep little Tucker (that's his name) healthy, fed, and exercised. An Australian Shepherd is a very active breed, as are all herder dogs, and so Tucker needs to given a healthy routine for his mind and his body.

You might think that choosing a pet name is an easy task. After all, there are thousands of names to choose from. But when you think about the new animal that you've brought into your home, you're thinking that perhaps choosing a suitable name isn't going to be as simple as you thought. Why? Because the name you choose is going to represent your new friend for the rest of his/her life, and isn't that worth taking some time to think over?

Pet names aren't just words, they reflect personality. A pet's new name should be something that has some meaning to you and to your pet.
